THE FOURTH SUNDAY OF ADVENT
(The Coming of Christ in His Birth)
Let us,
Who are the children of God by faith in Jesus Christ,
Praise Him
For sending His only begotten Son
Into the world
Concerning whom it was announced
To the Virgin Mary:
Behold you will conceive in your womb
And bear a son
Whom you shall name Jesus.
He will be great
And He will be called
The Son of the Most High
And the Lord God will give Him
The throne of His father David
And He will reign over
The House of Jacob forever
And His kingdom will have no end
For the Holy Spirit will come upon you
And the power of the Most High
Will overshadow you
And for that reason the holy offspring
Shall be called the Son of God
Concerning whom the angel of the Lord
Announced to the shepherds
Who were watching their flocks by night:
Do not be afraid;
For I bring you good tidings of great joy
Which shall be for all the people
For today in the city of David
There has been born for you
A Savior who is Christ the Lord
And this will be a sign for you
You will find the baby
Wrapped in swaddling clothes
Lying in a manger
Whose birth
Was adored by the Magi
Who having seen the star in the east
Went to worship the Child
Presenting Him with gifts of gold,
Frankincense and myrrh
Whose birth
Was celebrated by the heavenly host
Who declared:
Glory to God in the highest,
And on earth peace,
Good will towards men
Therefore let us
Celebrate the holy birth
Of the One who has brought
Light and life to all people
